THE OFFICIAL PRESENTATION FOR THE 2018 TOUR DE POLOGNE UCI WORLD TOUR ON FRIDAY

The curtain is officially rising on the 75th edition of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour: the race will cover 7 stages from August 4th to the 10th.
There are lots of events scheduled for the week-end between Friday the 18th and Sunday the 20th of May, to introduce the new edition of the Polish stage race that features a high sports profile and promises to be rich in significance and appeal.

In fact, in 2018 the race will celebrate 90 years of history. Furthermore, the Tour de Pologne will also be a part of the national celebrations to mark 100 years of Polish independence. The Tour de Pologne is the most important annual sports event in Poland as well as the leading cycling competition in all of Eastern Europe, and it is planning to commemorate these milestones in the best way ever.

The official ceremony will take place Friday evening in Warsaw, starting at 8:00 p.m., against the impressive backdrop of the historic Wilanów Palace, the “Polish Versailles” and the second residence of many Polish kings. Of course, the General Director for the Tour de Pologne, Czeslaw Lang will be there to christen the event with his Lang Team, which is organizing the race for the 25th year in a row. There will be lots of guests from the world of sports and entertainment, as well as important government officials attending the event. Also, a brilliant new initiative will make the ceremony at Wilanów open to the general public and any fans who want to attend.
“The warmth and affection from the crowds is one of the aspects that most distinguishes our race. This is a special year, not only for the Tour de Pologne but for all of Poland, so our main goal is to get people involved by sharing the important values and emotions that cycling promotes and recalling the beautiful story of our race and especially of our great nation,” says Czeslaw Lang.

The Tour de Pologne mobile museum will also be at Wilanów, along with the related village of stands and activities. The entire caravan has been on a road show these past few weeks, promoting and spreading Czeslaw Lang’s message. The initiative will last until October and touch down in many Polish cities at Carrefour shopping centers (brand partner of the initiative that also sponsors the TDP’s yellow jersey).

And it’s not all just about bikes. In fact, on Friday the entire city of Warsaw will be celebrating, with the city’s museums staying open all night long. It’s an occasion not to be missed for tourists and citizens who are looking for a special experience in the capital.

Afterwards the Tour de Pologne weekend program will continue with the amateur competitions organized by the Lang Team: on Saturday, May 19th, it’s the mountain bike marathon (http://www.viennalifemaraton.pl/), starting from the Wilanów Palace Gardens; the road race (http://langteamrace.pl/) will be held on Sunday, May 20th.
