The fourth wild card in the Tour de Pologne is awarded to Lotto Dstny

The fourth wild card in the Tour de Pologne is awarded to Lotto Dstny. The Belgian team will race on Polish roads looking for a stage victory.

The team, historically present on the international cycling circuit, will have the opportunity to participate in the Polish stage race included in the World Tour calendar, in its special anniversary edition. “The history of Lotto Dstny is just like ours: long and full of great satisfaction,” commented Czesław Lang, Tour de Pologne Race Director. “To be present at the Tour de Pologne 2023 represents, for this squad, a great opportunity for the riders to show their aptitude, while the team can prove its great experience in the world of professional cycling. I’m sure we will see a lot of commitment from the riders, I expect to see them in the breakaways or aiming at stage victories. In any case they will be motivated to deliver a great race

“The team boasts in its ranks young talents such as Florian Vermeersch and Arnaud De Lie, who have already shown interesting growth in these early months of the season, as well as spearheads such as record-breaker Victor Campenaerts and sprint king Caleb Ewan and experienced men such as Jacopo Guarnieri and Thomas De Gendt. In short, an eclectic and enthusiastic mix. “Returning to the Tour de Pologne is very special for us, as we have both good and bad memories”, says CEO Stéphane Heulot from Lotto Dstny. “We won the race with Tim Wellens in 2016 when he also took a stage win. On the other hand, we’ve lost our rider Bjorg Lambrecht in the race in 2019. So it’s always special and emotional to get back to this race. We are very motivated to show our stripes again and we will be looking for a stage win to honor our beloved Bjorg.”

“The Tour de Pologne is like a family and, since the team had to deal with the loss of Bjorg Lambrecht, we also wanted to remember him. To honor the memory of a talented young man, we established a prize in his name awarded to the best young rider. We will certainly never forget him,” confirms John Lelangue, Lang Team General Manager.

The team will therefore race the Tour de Pologne, from July 29th to August 4th, bringing to the Polish roads its fascinating history studded with champions born and bred in its ranks. A participation that adds prestige to an edition already full of celebrations, making this year particularly significant for both the event and the organization.
