In the last 150 metres, Dylan Groenewegen and Fabio Jakobsen were fighting for the victory when the Jumbo-Visma rider deviated from his line causing\u00a0the crash of the Deceuninck &#8211; Quick-Step sprinter who\u00a0fell against the barrier. Many riders who were at the front were involved in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The UCI has found the behaviour of Dylan Groenewegen unacceptable, and has disqualified the Jumbo-Visma rider, assigning the stage victory to Fabio Jakobsen.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation\u2019s representative, Czes\u0142aw Lang, says: \u201cI followed the situation from the beginning. I have just come back from the Sosnoviec Santa Barbara Hospital. After speaking with the director, I can say that I am somewhat relieved. After seeing the crash, we feared the worst, but now we know that there are no serious internal injuries or major fractures, and the patient\u2019s situation is stabilised. The race official also involved in the accident suffered a head injury but has already regained consciousness and is now in a stable condition. I really want to send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and hospital staff for their prompt care and assistance and I also wish all the athletes involved in the crash a fast recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A serious high-speed crash disrupted the first stage of the Tour de Pologne.
