This town is home to numerous archaeological finds, evidence of the tremendous artistic wealth of the capital of the region. Today the team trains will dominate again the last kilometers, and sprinters, along with Classics\u2019 specialists will fight to cross the slightly uphill finish line first. The stage will end in the town of Zabrze, an important manufacturing center.<\/p>\n
Points of interest<\/strong><\/p>\n G\u00f3ra Swietej Anny <\/strong> Bolko Island <\/strong>Opole\u2019s Bolko Island is a popular spot among the locals. It certainly deserves to be called the green lungs of the city. The Island is perfect for a lazy walk, a bicycle trip, rollerblading, running and all other outdoor activities.<\/p>\n Its name comes from the Piast Prince Bolko, who ruled these lands hundreds of years ago. In 1910, it was made into a city park. From the direction of the city centre, which is very close by, visitors can reach Bolko Island from Pasieka Island via a pedestrian and bicycle bridge on the Oder River. It is the location of the Franciscan monastery with the miraculous statue of St. Anne and the imposing calvary, which is an important destination for Roman Catholic pilgrimage. About one million of pilgrims met there with the Pope John Paul II in 1983 during his visit in Poland.<\/p>\n
