After a phenomenal victory in Karpacz, the Belgian was the first to don the yellow jersey as the ORLEN general classification leader. Later in the race, he claimed two more stage wins. Now he has added the European Cyclocross Championship title to his achievements!<\/p>\n
It\u2019s long been known that the Tour de Pologne is a race where well-known riders compete with rising stars for victory. One of them in this year\u2019s edition was undoubtedly Thibau Nys, who dominated challenging mass-start stages.
\nNo one quite expected that the three hardest stages would go to a 21-year-old from the Lidl-Trek team. The Belgian had no rivals on the Orlinek climb in Karpacz, Polana Jamrozowa in Duszniki-Zdr\u00f3j, and the hills near the BUKOVINA Resort. He had already showcased his talent with wins on the roads of Switzerland and Hungary, but it was at the Tour de Pologne that he cemented his position as one of the world\u2019s top riders in challenging, hilly terrain.<\/p>\n

Thibau Nys has been connected with cycling since childhood \u2014 fans of popular cyclocross races are well acquainted with the young Belgian\u2019s father, Sven, one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the discipline.<\/p>\n

Recently, Thibau Nys once again demonstrated his talent by triumphing in the prestigious Koppenbergcross in Belgium, and on Sunday, for the first time in his career, he became the European champion in the elite race.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is crazy! Next week, I\u2019ll be racing in the European champion\u2019s jersey. Everything came together perfectly. I\u2019m so happy that I\u2019m at a loss for words to describe it.<\/em>\u201d Thibau Nys said after winning the title.<\/p>\n Many experts compare the young Belgian to Mathieu van der Poel, who for years has successfully combined road and cyclocross racing, achieving remarkable success in both disciplines.
