This year’s race will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gdynia in a unique way. A colorful peloton composed of the world’s best teams will start from the coastal city on a seven-day journey through the charming corners of Poland. The first stage will be held on a demanding and long, 234-kilometer route from Gdynia to Koszalin.

According to the regulations of the International Cycling Union, riders from continental teams and professional teams that are not simultaneously participating in the event can compete in the colors of the Polish national team in a UCI WorldTour race, which the Tour de Pologne is.

The preliminary squad of the Polish national team includes 3 dynamic cyclists from the Czech team ATT Investments, which last year won the title of the best continental team in the world – former Polish champion Norbert Banaszek, Tobiasz Pawlak, and Marceli Bogusławski.

Tour de Pologne consistently remains a part of the prestigious UCI WorldTour, thanks to which the world’s leading teams come to Poland every year. One of them is Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, currently the second team in the Union Cycliste Internationale ranking. Dynamic Jordi Meeus and Danny van Poppel, as well as Aleksandr Vlasov, are set to compete in the colors of the German team in the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour.

The 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will take place on August 3-9, and 18 top-division teams will stand at the starting line of the race. Among them is Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, one of the best teams in the world. Its cyclists will be a force to be reckoned with in the fight for the top places in Poland.

Particularly good results can be expected from the riders of the German team in flat and hilly terrain. All thanks to Jordi Meeus and Danny van Poppel – the former has been one of the leading sprinters for years, and his achievements include victories in the Copenhagen Sprint, a stage of the Tour de France, and one-day races in Belgium.

In turn, Danny van Poppel is a versatile rider who performs well in both one-day races and fast finishes, where he can finish brilliantly and perfectly lead out his sprinter. The former Dutch champion triumphed in a stage of the Tour de Pologne in the past and his palmares also include a stage of the Vuelta a España, among others.

In mountainous terrain, the team will be able to count on Aleksandr Vlasov, who has placed in the top tens of Grand Tours in the past. He has also won the Tour de Romandie, Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, and Giro dell’Emilia, as well as individual stages in UCI WorldTour events.

The seven-man preliminary roster of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe is completed by Finn Fisher-Black, Frederik Wandahl and Callum Thornley.

The Dutchman has repeatedly confirmed that he belongs to the world’s top tier – this year he achieved a stage victory in the Tour de France and he has 5 stage wins in the Tour de Pologne to his credit!

There are riders who are invariably associated with the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour. One of them is undoubtedly the 24-year-old Olav Kooij, who has been racing in the colors of the French Decathlon CMA CGM Team since the current season. The Dutchman has very good memories of Poland, which are connected with both youth categories and professional competitions.

Even as a junior, he claimed a win in a race in Grudziądz, and two years later – together with his national team teammates – he dominated the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix. The Dutch team won the team time trial then, and the next day Kooij turned out to be unrivaled in the bunch sprint, triumphing in the ORLEN General Classification of the entire race. Just like a year ago, this year’s Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will culminate in an exciting individual time trial stage with the start and finish line at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine. The fight for victory on this stage, as well as in the ORLEN General Classification, will be fought for every second, right up to the final meters!

Held under the slogan “North-South”, the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will start in Gdynia as early as August 3rd. Over the following days, competitors from the world’s top teams will traverse Poland, conquering flat, hilly, and mountainous sections. On the seventh day of the race, they will reach the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine, where the grand finale of this year’s edition of the race is planned. The “Wieliczka” Salt Mine is a unique place on the map of Poland and all of Europe. In 1978, it was inscribed on the first UNESCO World Heritage List.

The organizers have prepared an individual time trial stage for the cyclists on a 12.4-kilometer route, which will begin with a short climb. Last year and the triumph of Brandon McNulty from UAE Team Emirates-XRG showed that at this stage it is possible to make up for losses and win the entire race. The time trial segment will be a dozen or so minutes long, but an extremely demanding effort. The competitors will face not only the route, but also their own bodies and their limitations. The best time trialist in the entire race will reach for victory in Wieliczka. Who knows, perhaps it will once again be the subsequent winner of the ORLEN General Classification?

Currently, the Pole is racing in the Tour de France, and a few weeks ago, he won the national championship title in the individual time trial.

This year’s edition of the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour is fast approaching. The world champion from Ponferrada has a victory in the overall race under his belt, and he has claimed stage victories twice. In addition, Kwiatkowski triumphed in the Milan-San Remo monument, twice won Strade Bianche and the Amstel Gold Race, and the rich list of victories next to his name also includes Tirreno-Adriatico, Donostia San Sebastian, E3 Harelbeke, and 2 stages of the Tour de France. On July 15, during a conference at the Toyota Radość showroom, a symbolic handover of the Toyota and Lexus car fleet for the upcoming races organized by Lang Team – the 4th Tour de Pologne and the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour – took place. This is the result of the continued cooperation with Toyota Radość, Lexus Warszawa Radość, and Toyota Central Europe, which have once again become the Official Automotive Partner of the Lang Team.

Although bicycles play the main roles in cycling races, cars are no less important. They largely make up the race convoy, traveling hundreds of kilometers during stages, and thousands over the duration of the entire events. It will be no different in the case of the upcoming races organized by Lang Team – the 4th Tour de Pologne Women and the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour.

A specially prepared fleet consisting of about 50 cars was handed over to the race organizers on Wednesday, July 15.

The mountain triptych in the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will culminate with a stage from BUKOVINA Resort to Bukowina Tatrzańska. After the uphill finishes in Karpacz and Kocierz Resort, the best climber will be determined by the iconic “royal” stage contested on the Tatra circuits. There will certainly be no shortage of great mountain emotions!

With each successive stage of the race the excitement surrounding the battle for the ORLEN General Classification leader’s yellow jersey will grow. The initial phase of the race will favor riders specializing in flat and rolling terrain. Later, the climbers will step into action.

We will see top riders in action on the final climbs in Karpacz on Orlinek and near Kocierz Resort. The third mountain stage will lead from BUKOVINA Resort to Bukowina Tatrzańska and will take place on August 8. Before the professionals jump into action, cycling enthusiasts who, as every year, will enter the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs in large numbers, will face the steep climbs.

Next, the UCI WorldTour peloton’s competition will begin in earnest. Shortly after the start, the competitors will ride into charming Biały Dunajec, where the only LOTTO Sprint Prime on the route of this section will be located. It will be the last chance in the entire race to collect points for the LOTTO Most Active Rider Classification, so ridersfighting for the blue jersey will certainly be motivated to cross the line in first position.

The further part of the route is studded with climbs – over a distance of 125 kilometers, as many as 6 PZU Mountain Primes are located, and the cyclists will overcome almost 3000 meters of elevation gain! The first PZU Mountain Primes will be located on the climbs up to Sierockie (Cat. II) and Słodyczki (Cat. I). Another one is located on the very steep Pitoniówka (Cat. II) and on the iconic BUKOVINA Wall in Gliczarów (Cat. I), where it exceeds 15%!

The steep pitches will not let go of the competitors – in total, they will overcome the BUKOVINA Wall 3 times through an avenue of reliable fans! From the summit of the final PZU Mountain Prime to the finish line in Bukowina Tatrzańska – also located on a climb – only 13 kilometers will remain. The route full of climbs is a guarantee of great emotions, and for typical climbers, it will be the last chance to advance in the ORLEN General Classification. The final stage will be played out in the form of an individual time trial near the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine.

At the start of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will be, among others, 18 UCI WorldTour teams and the Polish national team. The partnership covers the demanding stage from Żagań to Karpacz, which will take place on the challenging roads of Lower Silesia. This marks another year of cooperation between one of the most recognisable hotels in the Polish mountains and the biggest cycling race in Central and Eastern Europe. The best team of last year’s Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will once again come to Poland with a very strong line-up. This time, among the riders of the team from the United Arab Emirates, we will see, among others, Jhonatan Narvaez, Jan Christen, and Joao Almeida – a former winner of the Tour de Pologne. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG riders certainly have an appetite for triumph in the ORLEN General Classification!

Less than 3 weeks remain until the start of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, which will take place from August 3-9. The race will start in Gdynia, on the Baltic Sea and will end near the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine, where – just like a year ago – the seven-day competition will be crowned by an individual time trial stage. Back then, the victory in the ORLEN General Classification was sealed by Brandon McNulty from the UAE Team Emirates-XRG squad, which simultaneously triumphed in the Decathlon Team Classification.

This year, the formation from the United Arab Emirates will again come to Poland with a very strong roster, led by Joao Almeida, who knows the taste of triumph on the Vistula. His achievements include winning the general classification and 2 stages in 2021. This is part of his rich palmares, which also includes victories in the Itzulia Basque Country, Tour de Suisse, Tour de Romandie and 2nd place in last year’s Vuelta – one of cycling’s grand tours.

The UAE Team Emirates-XRG team is famous for the depth of its roster and will once again be able to play the race in various ways. Also announced for the start in the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour is the 5-time Giro d’Italia stage winner Jhonatan Narvaez, famous for his active and combative riding. The team’s preliminary roster also includes the dynamic Jan Christen, who feels great in difficult terrain, the new Swiss champion.

The preliminary line-up of UAE Team Emirates-XRG is completed by the classics specialist – Benoit Cosnefroy, the Belgian individual time trial champion – Rune Herregodts, as well as dedicated domestiques – Mikkel Bjerg and Julius Johansen. Olav Kooij from the Decathlon CMA CGM Team claimed a spectacular victory on the 5th stage of the Tour de France, which ended with a sprint finish from the peloton. The Dutch rider is very well known to Polish fans – he has triumphed as many as 5 times on stages of the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, and previously also won the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix.

The eyes of the entire cycling world are currently focused on France, where the Tour de France is taking place. Olav Kooij from the Decathlon CMA CGM Team stood at the start line of the event for the first time in his career. Even though this is his debut in the La Grande Boucle  he fearlessly presented himself on the first sprint stage finishing in Pau, where after an exciting finish he reached for victory, defeating Max Kanter from the XDS Astana Team and Tim Merlier from Soudal Quick-Step.

Kooij – just like Merlier – are riders perfectly known to the Polish audience. Both have won in Poland multiple times, and the Dutchman from the Decathlon CMA CGM Team has particularly grown fond of racing by the Vistula River. The 24-year-old has claimed stage victories in each of the last four editions of the race, gathering a total of 5!

What is more – a few years earlier, the Dutchman triumphed in the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix, where he first dominated the team time trial along with his national teammates, and was subsequently unrivaled in the sprint finish from the peloton.

Olav Kooij’s victory on the stage finishing in Pau was also special for his team – Decathlon CMA CGM Team – for which he has been racing since this season. The second part of this year’s edition of the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will be packed with climbs. After the iconic finish on Orlinek in Karpacz, riders from the best teams in the world will face another demanding climb. The fifth stage of the 83rd Tour de Pologne will lead from Opole to Kocierz Resort, where we will get to know the winner of the next segment of the competition.

The peloton of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will travel across Poland from north to south between August 3rd and 9th. The competitors will start from Gdynia, from where they will gradually head to the southern regions of the country. On the fifth day of the competition, a demanding 218-kilometer journey from Opole to Kocierz Resort awaits them.

A day earlier, the competitors will fight for the win on Orlinek in Karpacz – the iconic finish will be a prelude to the mountain triptych prepared by the race organizers. Its second act will be the aforementioned stage starting in the Capital of Polish Song. From there, the riders will head towards Mount St. Anne, where the PZU Category II Mountain Prime will be located.

Next, the cyclists will fight at the LOTTO Sprint Prime in historical Ujazd and on the way to the greatest difficulties, they will have the opportunity to compete to win the DPD Special Prime, as well as two LOTTO Sprint Primes for the LOTTO Most Active Rider Classification – in Pisarzowice in the Wilamowice Commune and also in Bielsko-Biała, the Polish Capital of Culture.

Shortly after, the peloton will begin the climb up the demanding Przegibek Pass, marked as a PZU Category I Mountain Prime. From its summit, there will be less than 30 kilometers left to the finish line. The finish itself will not be among the easiest either. What is more, the organizers have prepared a very difficult climb up to Kocierz Resort for the riders, and the inclination of the wall reaches over a dozen percent in places! Once again, true climbers will fight for the win, and the 5th stage will be one of the key ones for competitors dreaming of victory in the ORLEN General Classification.

Riders, team staff, and technical crews taking part in one of the most prestigious sporting events in Central and Eastern Europe will stay at PHH Group properties located in Międzyzdroje, Szczecin, Gdańsk, Kołobrzeg, Lublin, Krasnobród, and Zakopane.
