First Big Test for the Climbers! Stage 4 of the 83rd Tour de Pologne Leads from Żagań to Karpacz

ŻAGAŃ, August 6 – Following exciting racing through the Lubusz Voivodeship, the peloton of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour enters true mountain terrain. On day four of competition, riders head into Lower Silesia to face the first major challenge of this year’s race. The route from Żagań to Karpacz is packed with demanding climbs where the General Classification contenders are expected to launch their first moves.

Leaders at the Start: The Battle Begins on the First Mountain Stage

Following Stage 3, here are the jersey holders set to line up at the start in Żagań:

Lower Silesian Challenge: Intermediate Sprints and a Tough Finale

Riders from the world’s top WorldTour teams will tackle picturesque yet brutal roads across Lower Silesia. Key intermediate points along the route will heat up the action before the final ascent:

  • 2 Special Sprints: Hotel Gołębiewski and Hotel Seidorf
  • 3 PZU Mountain Sprints: Antoniów, Borowice, and Karpacz (just 4 km from the finish line)

Iconic Finish at Orlinek – The Stage Is Set for a Cycling Spectacle

The stage finale is packed with obstacles. Cyclists will be tested by categorized climbs as well as the steep final wall leading up to Orlinek in Karpacz. This legendary Tour de Pologne finish line—famous for iconic victories by Alberto Contador, Matej Mohorič, Thibau Nys, and Paul Lapeira—is once again primed for world-class racing drama.

“North-South” Route: Over 1,100 km of Racing

This year’s Tour de Pologne features over 1,100 kilometers divided into 7 demanding stages. The peloton travels from coastal Gdynia through West Pomerania, the Lubusz region, Lower Silesia, and Lesser Poland. Highlights along the course include flat sprint finishes, the iconic climb to Orlinek in Karpacz, a mountain triptych with finishes at Kocierz Resort and Bukowina Tatrzańska, and the final individual time trial at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine.
