Sprint Stars at the 82nd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour
Only four days remain until the start of the 82nd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour. The race will kick off with a flat stage from Wrocław to Legnica – a route tailor-made for the fast men of the peloton. Among those eyeing glory in the opening sprint are Olav Kooij, Casper van Uden, Paul Magnier, and Fernando Gaviria.
Once again, the stars of world cycling are coming to Poland to compete in the 82nd edition of the Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour. The race will feature top riders specialized in sprints, climbing, and time trials.
One of the most anticipated battles will be that of the sprinters, especially during the first stage from Wrocław to Legnica. This route through the roads of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship presents an ideal opportunity for the fast finishers – one they simply can’t afford to miss! As the race progresses, the stages will become increasingly challenging, demanding climbing skills and strong endurance from the riders.
Among the sprinting elite is Olav Kooij of Team Visma | Lease a Bike. The Dutchman has already claimed stage wins in the Tour de Pologne and this year added a Giro d’Italia stage to his palmarès. He also won the general classification of the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix – a testament to his strength on Polish roads. As one of the world’s top sprinters, Kooij is undoubtedly a favorite for victory in a bunch finish. Team Visma | Lease a Bike can also count on the versatile Matthew Brennan, a Briton who impressed with his performance in last year’s ORLEN Nations Grand Prix and has already claimed 10 victories this season!
Should the stage end in a group sprint, expect fierce competition from other seasoned sprinters, including Fernando Gaviria (Movistar Team) – stage winner at the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, and Tour de Pologne, Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) – winner of the green jersey at the 2020 Tour de France and Elia Viviani (Lotto), who has claimed stages in all three Grand Tours.
Also lining up is Paul Magnier of Soudal – Quick-Step, one of the most promising young sprinters, who also excels in one-day races. Riders like Ethan Vernon (Israel – Premier Tech) and Marijn van den Berg (EF Education-EasyPost) – the latter having previously won stages and the general classification at both the Tour de Pologne and the ORLEN Nations Grand Prix – are not afraid of tougher terrain either.
Another Dutchman aiming for strong sprint finishes is Casper van Uden of Team Picnic PostNL, a stage winner at this year’s Giro d’Italia.
The 82nd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will showcase a world-class lineup of sprinters, each eager to add prestigious Polish stages to their career accomplishments. The race runs from August 4 to 10 and will be broadcast on TVP, Eurosport, and the MAX streaming platform – reaching fans in 65 countries around the world!Początek formularzaDół formularza
