The First Mountain Challenge in Karpacz – Stage 4 of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour
After the seaside beginning of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, the competitors will gradually approach the mountains, which will not be lacking on the route of this year’s edition of the race. The first stage ending with an uphill finish is scheduled for the 4th day of competition and will take place on the route from Żagań to Karpacz. A great spectacle for the stage win and the lead in the ORLEN General Classification is coming!
The 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will take place from August 3rd to 9th. After 3 days of racing in flat and hilly terrain, the peloton composed of the world’s best teams will enter the mountains. The fourth stage will take place in Lower Silesia and the start is planned in Żagań. The riders will cover a total of 175 kilometers and overcome almost 2500 meters of elevation gain.
From there, the competitors will head south along forested roads. Over time, the racing terrain will become increasingly demanding. The peloton will enter the Jizera Mountains, where after more than 115 kilometers of competition, a fight awaits the riders at the 3rd category PZU Mountain Prime in Antoniów.
Shortly afterwards, the cyclists will face the DPD Special Prime and after 150 kilometers of racing, they will overcome a difficult, several-kilometer-long climb in Borowice, designated as a 1st category PZU Mountain Prime. From there, only 20 kilometers will remain to the finish line.
The finale is a real treat for the climbers. About 10 kilometers before the line, a climb designated as a 1st category PZU Mountain Prime in Karpacz will begin, and on its slopes, the Hotel Seidorf Special Prime is also located. From the summit to the finish line will be very close, but the final stretch on the Orlinek will not let the riders rest either, as they will be fighting the steep gradients right up to the final meters!
Karpacz – the finish city of the 4th stage of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour – is a cult place for Polish cycling. Orlinek remembers the triumphs of Alberto Contador, Matej Mohorič, Thibau Nys and last year’s win by Paul Lapeira. In August, Orlinek will once again be the arena of a great cycling spectacle!
At the start of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, among others, 18 UCI WorldTour teams and the Polish national team will line up. Each of the 7 stages will be broadcast live on the channels of TVP and Eurosport, as well as on the HBO Max streaming platform, thanks to which it will reach fans from 65 countries, promoting Poland and cycling at the highest level all over the world!
