POINTS OF INTEREST
Strzelin market square
Strzelin was granted town rights in 1292 by Duke Bolko I the Strict of the Piast dynasty. He also built defensive walls. The market square has all the features of a late medieval colonial city. The town flourished in the 15th and 16th century. Its wealth came from clothmaking, shoemaking, tanning, brewing and metalworking. During the 700 years of its history Strzelin suffered from a few major fires which burnt almost all buildings in the city. During the Thirty Years’ War it was plundered many times by troops from various countries. In 1633 a deadly plague killed 4 000 inhabitants of Strzelin. Only ten families survived.
Robot factory in Moszna
Museum of scrap sculpture. The only place in Poland and in whole Europe where giant steel robots inpired by Sci-fi movies are produced. All of them were built manually by Sebastian Kucharski. Main material is scrap metal coming from cars and other steel waste destined for recycling. The biggest robots required 700 hours of work, weigh even 900 kg and reach the height of 3.5 m.
