8.08.2025 Stage 5 – Katowice – Zakopane

The longest stage of the 82nd Tour de Pologne will stretch 205.3 kilometers from Katowice to Zakopane. Both cities have been regular fixtures on the race route and have witnessed many memorable victories. On their way from Silesia to Lesser Poland, the peloton will battle for the LOTTO Sprint Prime in Mysłowice and then LOTTO Sprint Prime in Wilamowice – which two years ago proved decisive in the ORLEN general classification between Matej Mohoric and Joao Almeida.
Next comes the Decathlon Special Prime in Porąbka, followed by the climb to the well-known Kocierz, marked as a Category I PZU Mountain Prime. Later in the stage, riders will also fight for the DPD Special Prime in Zawoja and another Category I PZU Mountain Prime on the Krowiarki Pass. From there, just over 60 kilometers remain to the finish.
Due to its varied profile, Stage 5 promises intriguing dynamics. The last time the UCI WorldTour peloton fought for victory in Zakopane was in 2019, when an unknown Dane – Jonas Vingegaard – claimed the win. Perhaps this year’s visit to the Tatra Mountains will reveal another rising star?
