ORLEN main sponsor of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour

“I am proud to announce ORLEN as the main sponsor of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour. Our cooperation, which has been exemplary for many years, is entering a new stage” says Czesław Lang, Race Director of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour. This year, riders from the best professional teams will fight for the leader jersey in the ORLEN general classification.

This year’s race will start on 29th July and will run until 4th August. This will be a special anniversary edition. For the 80th time, riders will take to the roads of Poland, exactly 95 years after the first edition of the race and 30 years after the first edition organised by Czesław Lang.

To commemorate this extraordinary anniversary, this year’s race will be held under the slogan ’95 years of the Tour de Pologne’. The idea of a multi-stage race in a free and independent Poland came up at the beginning of the twenties. The event finally came to fruition in September 1928 as the ‘1st Cycling Tour of Poland’. Five editions were held before the outbreak of the Second World War. After the war, the race has been held every year since 1947 and is now in its 80th year. Since 1993, it has been a fully professional race, organised by Czeslaw Lang, the Moscow Olympic vice-champion.

Moreover, during this year’s Tour de Pologne, ORLEN will be not only the main sponsor of the general classification, but also the Official Timing Partner.
