From North to South Through the Lubuskie Voivodeship – Stage 3 of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour
In line with the motto of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour – “North-South” – stage 3 of this year’s edition of the race will connect Gorzów Wielkopolski with Zielona Góra and will lead along the roads of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. LOTTO Sprint Primes, Special Primes and the PZU Mountain Prime will be located on the route.
After two days spent in Pomerania and West Pomerania, the peloton of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will continue riding from north to south. The third stage will start from Gorzów Wielkopolski and will lead entirely along the picturesque roads of the Lubuskie Voivodeship.
Although Gorzów Wielkopolski is mainly associated with two wheels in relation to speedway racing, it also has its cycling traditions. In the past, the Polish championships were held there, and stages of the Tour de Pologne were won there by, among others, Zbigniew Spruch, Marek Wrona, Zenon Jaskuła and Marek Leśniewski. After the start, the competitors will head towards Strzelce Krajeńskie, a town that has also been heavily involved in cycling for decades. In the “Lubuskie Carcassonne”, famous for its very well-preserved medieval walls, a LOTTO Sprint Prime is located.
Next, the competitors will ride through the Lubuskie Lake District, where they will compete at Special Primes in Skwierzyna and Międzyrzecz. Further attractions prepared by the organizers are the LOTTO Sprint Primes in Świebodzin, overlooked by the Statue of Christ the King, and Sulechów, where the Polish Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk was born.
The end of the stage will be undulating – barely 12 kilometers before the finish line, the cyclists will fight at the 3rd category PZU Mountain Prime in Przytok, from where they will head to Zielona Góra, the Polish capital of wine. The list of stage winners from the Lubusz city abounds in famous names, such as Alessandro Petacchi, Lech Piasecki or Stanisław Szozda. Another excellent cyclist will join them as early as July 5th!
Before the professionals’ competition, the final stage of the Tour de Pologne Junior for young male and female cyclists from the categories: Żak, Żakini, Młodzik and Młodziczka will take place in Zielona Góra.
At the start of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, among others, 18 UCI WorldTour teams and the Polish national team will line up. Each of the 7 stages will be broadcast live on the channels of TVP and Eurosport, as well as on the HBO Max streaming platform, thanks to which it will reach fans from 65 countries, promoting Poland and cycling at the highest level all over the world!
