Gazprom-RusVelo will be starting in the 78th Tour de Pologne

The Russian group Gazprom-RusVelo has received a wild card and will be starting in the 78th Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour.

Gazprom-RusVelo is a regular participant in the Polish race and this year the Russian group will be starting for the sixth time in a row. – Gazprom-RusVelo is a team that looks for opportunities in every race and does everything it can to show its best side. A good example is, for example, Tirreno Adriatico and the attitude of Simone Velasco – the Gazprom-RusVelo cyclist was in the break-away that reached the finish line, and he finished in third place. This is a consistently developed team, combining experience with youth, which includes both prize-winning riders and young, talented cyclists. Each start in the Tour de Pologne is a chance for them to show themselves to the world, and their presence in the race means great excitement and rivalry at the highest level – said Czesław Lang, General Director of Tour de Pologne.

This season, Gazprom-RusVelo’s colours are to be worn by, among others, Roman Kreuziger, winner of the Tour de Romandie, Tour de Suisse and Giro di Sardegna, and Ilnur Zakarin, who has won stages in the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. – We are always glad to be in the start-list of participants at Tour de Pologne. I would say that this race is very special and sympathetic to our team. The race organizers have provided us with a wild-card to Tour de Pologne 2021 and on our part, we will ensure a strong, competitive line-up. We have significantly reinforced the team this season and are ready to fight for a stage-win, that would be one of our goals this year. In the past Russian athletes have claimed victories on the roads of Poland, for instance Sergey Ivanov and Pavel Sivakov, and that is a great additional motivation for our riders as well. I would like to thank the race organizers for inviting us to Tour de Pologne, we look forward to coming back to this spectacular cycling race – said Renat Khamidulin, General Director of Gazprom-RusVelo.

The 78th Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour will be held on August 9th-15th. On April 22nd  TVP Sport will air the official presentation of the route on which this year’s race will take place.
