The “Queen Stage” of the TdP and the ORLEN TdP Amateurs presented at BUKOVINA Resort
On Wednesday, June 25, a press conference was held at BUKOVINA Resort with the participation of Edward Kuchta, President of the BUKOVINA Foundation, and Czesław Lang, General Director of Lang Team. During the event, organizers unveiled details of the 6th stage of the 82nd Tour de Pologne, which will start at BUKOVINA Resort, as well as the returning ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs Ryszard Szurkowski Memorial, once again taking place in the Tatra Mountains.
A true cycling festival awaits fans at BUKOVINA Resort. This iconic location is once again part of the Tour de Pologne route and will host both the start of Stage 6 of the pro race and the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs. The professionals will face a 150-kilometer „queen” stage in the heart of the Tatra Mountains, featuring legendary climbs such as the Harnaś Wall and the BUKOVINA Wall in Rzepiska and Gliczarów.
Today at the BUKOVINA Resort, a press conference was held with the participation of Czesław Lang, General Director of the Tour de Pologne, and Edward Kuchta, President of the BUKOVINA Foundation. During the event, a commemorative monument was unveiled in front of the Hotel BUKOVINA, expressing gratitude to Czesław Lang and featuring plaques honoring the stage winners in Bukowina Tatrzańska. The peloton will return to the Tatra Mountains on August 9.
Before the world’s top riders take the stage, thousands of amateur cyclists will tackle these same mountain ascents as part of the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs Ryszard Szurkowski Memorial – an event that originally began right here in Bukowina Tatrzańska and BUKOVINA Resort.
“Bukowina Tatrzańska and BUKOVINA Resort are very important places for Polish cycling. As organizers, we have had a long-standing relationship with both the resort and Mr. Edward Kuchta. Our collaboration began with MTB races, and from that initiative emerged one of the stages of the Tour de Pologne. The conditions here are excellent – the Harnaś and BUKOVINA climbs, a beautiful finish. Iconic stages are raced here, ones that stay in memory for years. They often determine the overall winner of the race. This year, the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs returns to Bukowina. Cyclists will race on a well-known course, in a fantastic setting and atmosphere – a great opportunity to compare their times from previous editions” said Czesław Lang, General Director of the Tour de Pologne.
“This is our 15th year of partnership, a clear sign of Czesław Lang’s great trust in us and in BUKOVINA Resort. Once again, we have the honor of organizing both the elite Tour de Pologne and its amateur version. From August 7 to 9, we invite everyone to join us for a three-day cycling celebration we’ve named VELO Bukovina. As part of the 82nd Tour de Pologne, we will celebrate the queen stage together with the fans” added Edward Kuchta, President of BUKOVINA Foundation.
Competition in Bukowina Tatrzańska and its surrounding areas has provided fans with unforgettable moments over the years. Many of the world’s top riders have battled it out on these famous climbs, creating some of the most iconic stories in Polish cycling. Past winners include names like Rafał Majka, Remco Evenepoel, Joao Almeida, Thibau Nys, and Simon Yates – the recent winner of the Giro d’Italia. In Bukowina Tatrzańska, only the strongest prevail.
BUKOVINA Resort has prepared a wide range of attractions for cycling fans and enthusiasts in connection with the 82nd Tour de Pologne and the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs. From August 7 to 9, Bukowina Tatrzańska will become the Polish capital of road cycling. Visitors can expect a giant screen and fan zone for the 82nd Tour de Pologne, a race office, the start of the ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs, meetings with special guests, the Filigranowy Coffee Ride, and dedicated areas for bikes, relaxation, and food – and much more.
“The area around Hotel BUKOVINA and the BUKOVINA Resort will be open to fans. Rider sign-ins, the ceremonial start, and the finish line will all be located in the vicinity of the resort. The central hub will be the fan zone, where spectators can follow the pro peloton live on big screens. Starting Thursday, August 7, the race office will be open in the Hotel BUKOVINA conference center. The race is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM, ensuring everything fits into a single day. Riders will tackle our legendary course with climbs to Gliczarów – the BUKOVINA Wall – and to Rzepiska – the Harnaś Wall. It will be a tough challenge. While the route isn’t long, the gradients reach up to 20%” explained Edward Kuchta.
The ORLEN Tour de Pologne Amateurs and Stage 6 of the 82nd Tour de Pologne at BUKOVINA Resort and its surroundings will take place on August 9. However, VELO Bukovina is worth visiting even earlier.
The 82nd Tour de Pologne will run from August 4 to 10. The race is part of the prestigious UCI World Tour and one of only 15 stage races in the calendar. Coverage of the event will be broadcast by TVP Sport, Eurosport, and the MAX streaming platform, reaching cycling fans in 65 countries worldwide.
