Tour de Pologne puts safety first. Another year of partnership with BOPLAN
The safety of riders during races organized by Lang Team remains the top priority. For the fifth consecutive year, the routes of Tour de Pologne will be secured by modern safety solutions from BOPLAN. Their transport will be handled by the race’s official logistics partner, Grupa Transportowa.
Road cycling is a high-risk sport. Riders race across thousands of kilometers at high speeds and in varied terrain. Whether it’s sprint finishes, descents or other critical sections of the route – riders safety is essential.
Crashes are an inevitable part of cycling, and while they cannot be completely avoided, innovative solutions can significantly reduce their consequences. That’s why for the past five years Tour de Pologne has partnered with the Belgian company BOPLAN, a manufacturer of cutting-edge safety solutions. BOPLAN’s products are exported to over 80 countries, where they help protect people, vehicles, and infrastructure.
Since 2019 – in line with its mission to create the safest possible working environments – the company has also been active in sports. Its distinctive safety systems are used in road cycling, triathlon, BMX, and track and field events.
During the 82nd edition of Tour de Pologne the iconic yellow BOPLAN safety installations will once again be visible along the race route. These include synthetic shock-absorbing barriers and totems, designed to protect riders during the most critical moments of the race. BOPLAN’s solutions significantly enhance rider safety in all conditions.
„Providing suitable safeguards in locations where accidents might occur is crucial – for participants, employees, and spectators. That’s why, at Boplan, we are very proud that our safety products will be used in the Tour de Pologne for the 5th year in a row” says Tibo Gheysen of BOPLAN.
The continued partnership with BOPLAN proves that the organizers of Tour de Pologne treat the safety of participating athletes as an absolute priority.
„When organizing races, the most important thing is the safety of the riders. As organizers, we are required to meet a range of standards imposed by the International Cycling Union and national regulations. While BOPLAN barriers have already been used in several WorldTour one-day races, the Tour de Pologne is the only multi-day WorldTour race where the finish area is secured with more than 300 metres of race barriers. Thanks to this, we have very secure last meters what is very important for us. Often, we have to give more than races organized in Western Europe because more is expected of us. These barriers ensure that safety at the Tour de Pologne is at the highest possible level” says Czesław Lang, the General Director of the Tour de Pologne.
The transport of BOPLAN’s safety systems will be managed by Tour de Pologne’s official logistics partner, Grupa Transportowa. A few days before the race, transport sets will be sent to Belgium to bring the safety elements back to Poland. The logistics partner of the Tour de Pologne will also be responsible for equipment transport between the stages.
— The races we organize are major logistical undertakings that require a very good plan, experience, and full commitment – which Grupa Transportowa guarantees. It’s also particularly important for us that this is a Polish company. At Lang Team, we have always focused on quality, but also on promoting our country on the international stage — admitted Czesław Lang.
Tour de Pologne remains the only UCI WorldTour stage race that uses BOPLAN’s products. In total, over 650 meters of safety barriers will be deployed on each stage. This year’s edition will take place from August 4 to 10. The 82nd Tour de Pologne will be broadcast on TVP Sport and Eurosport, as well as on the MAX streaming platform, reaching fans in 65 countries around the world.
