Rafał Majka with strong results ahead of the 82nd Tour de Pologne

After winning the Polish National Road Race Championships, Rafał Majka competed in the Tour of Austria. In the Alpine stage race, he finished in 3rd place overall and secured top-3 finishes on two stages. In less than three weeks, the Polish rider from UAE Team Emirates-XRG will take part in the 82nd Tour de Pologne.

Majka’s recent races have been very successful. One of the greatest Polish cyclists in history took part in the national championships, which this year featured a hilly course around Dobczyce. Racing in his home region, Majka proved unbeatable and claimed victory in the road race with a significant margin, securing the national champion title for the second time in his career.

Just a few days later, he showcased the distinctive white-and-red jersey with the eagle on the chest during the Tour of Austria. In the challenging Alpine terrain, UAE Team Emirates-XRG – the team Majka has been racing for over the past few years – performed excellently. The squad won four stages and the general classification, while Rafał Majka reached the podium on two stages. He finished 3rd overall, confirming his great form.

As the reigning Polish champion, Majka is set to compete in the 82nd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour, held from August 4 to 10 this year. The Olympic bronze medalist from Rio de Janeiro has participated in Poland’s national tour many times, winning the overall title in 2014. Throughout his career, he has claimed three stage victories in the Tour de Pologne, the most recent being two years ago when he outsprinted Matej Mohorič and Michał Kwiatkowski from a reduced group. This time, he will have the chance to present the national champion’s jersey to the Polish crowd along the route.

The 82nd Tour de Pologne remains part of the UCI WorldTour, the same elite calendar that includes the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. As the top-tier race in Poland, it guarantees a star-studded lineup, including 18 UCI WorldTeams – among them, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, currently the world’s top-ranked cycling team.

The race promotes both sport and Poland – the colorful peloton will cover over 1,000 kilometers from Wrocław to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, where this year’s edition will conclude after seven days of competition. The diverse route offers opportunities for all types of riders – sprinters, climbers, classics specialists, and time trialists will all have their chances to shine. Every stage will be broadcast live on TVP and Eurosport, as well as streamed on the MAX streaming platform, bringing the race to fans in 65 countries!
